Could you please advise me on the following: we are planning to create a blog site in order to generate traffic, before launching the main site (3-4 months later). Our problem is how to proceed in order to transfer the traffic from the blog site to the main site. We are discussing 2 possibilities:
  1. To create it as a subfolder domain.com/blog
  2. To create the blog on the main site and when it is ready, to transfer the content to a blog section and replace the content with the real one.
  3. Other ideas are welcome
How do you think will be better to proceed?

Create the subdomain or subdirectory now and save yourself work later. Just use a placeholder or image on the main domain. SEO doesn't care about the sub either way. The domain name itself still gets the ranking.
