Need domain brand-ability opinion for a business niche website. My niche is 'business'. I understand the content is the king. My question is focused only on branding and user perception related. What do you think would be a better "brand" from a long term perspective: A short 6-8 character .com surname domain name like Forbes or Bloomberg? OR A relevant two-word .com domain name like BusinessGuru or BusinessCrucial?

When it comes to naming a business and choosing a name there are two theories of thoughts:
  1. By creating a new brand that does not use any known words or keywords, you prevent your target audience from having preconceived notions about the brand and the service. This in turn allows you to sculpt and influence their entire journey as a new experience across your brand.
  2. Choosing a name that does use common names or keywords does give your client a preconceived notion about your services based on their past experiences with those services that use those words. For better or for worse!
In addition, shorter brand names are easier to remember, easier to get to in search for searches, and easier to market on and off the internet. I can expound on this more, but these are the two principles used and kept in mind when naming a business.
